About Nick Hruby
I have been photographing for the last sixteen years of my life, and though now art making is an innate part of who I am, that was not always the case. In my small hometown of Marion, SD, with a population of only 800 people, I was active in athletics and held far less concern for academics. Nevertheless, I decided to attend the University of South Dakota where I was first introduced to an elevated conversation about art and the practice of photography. Shortly after being exposed to this new dialogue among talented artists, I decided to pursue art as a career and way of life. I finished my BFA in photography at USD and went on to complete an MFA in Imaging Arts and Sciences from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.
In addition to working on personal photographic projects, I now teach photography at the University of South Dakota and am available for editorial and commercial opportunities.
